The foundations of the D Shaped Roman theatre, dating from the 2nd - 3rd centuries can be found in Maidenburgh Street in the Dutch Quarter, located north of the High Street.

The darker paving in the road shows the outline of the theatre's walls, which would of seated 3,000 spectators in its day.
