Accessibility
As part of our commitment to welcoming all visitors to Essex more and more providers offer an ever increasing choice of accessible accommodation and attractions. The National Accessible Scheme is a national scheme for accessible accommodation, so you know which accommodation providers are best for you. The National Accessible Scheme (NAS) - run by VisitEngland - is a national scheme to ensure that accommodation meets the needs of people with physical and sensory needs. You can use the NAS logos to guide you to accommodation which will suit your very personal requirements.
The scheme provides a set of Accessible Standards, against which accommodation providers are independently assessed and awarded the appropriate rating(s). The ratings are split into 3 categories for:
- Mobility impaired and older people
- Visually impaired and blind people
- Hearing impaired and deaf people
In addition, there is a self-assessed national scheme where establishments provide detailed information about the accessibility of their facilities, from the supply of ramps and disabled parking, to the provision of disability awareness training for staff. This information is displayed at the bottom of each detailed entry. As self assessment accessibility information is provided by the properties themselves - Visit Essex cannot accept liability for its accuracy.
