Danbury Commons and Blakes WoodDanbury Commons and Blakes Wood

Blakes Wood  Blakes Wood

Owned by the National Trust, Danbury Commons and Blakes wood encompass a large expanse of heathland, gorse and coppice, in addition to woodland. This reserve is bursting with colour as bluebells provide a carpet of blue beneath the canopy of trees. Set within the grounds of Danbury Palace, the park is a mix of ornamental gardens, lakes, woodland and meadows. Late spring brings spectacular blooms of rhododendrons in the gardens and you'll also see new families of ducklings and other birds around the lakes. There are a myriad of paths to explore along the commons and through the ancient woodland.
