Prittlewell Priory Museum

As well as displays on the wildlife of south east Essex and on the history of the Priory, there is a major "communications" display. The latter is centred around the products of the EKCO (EK Cole) factory that used to stand in Priory Crescent just north of the Priory, including early examples of radios and televisions.

Rediscover Prittlewell Priory in 2012

With the support of a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Prittlewell Priory is being conserved and restored by Southend Museums Service, it is hoped work will be completed in Spring 2012.

When it re-opens, The Priory will be more accessible to all. The displays inside this wonderful Grade 1 listed building will reveal its hidden history and visitors will be able to walk in the footsteps of medieval monks and those of the Victorian Scratton family. Upstairs the comings and goings of the park’s wildlife will be explored in a fun and interactive way.

In addition, a new dedicated eco-friendly visitor centre will provide space for learning, a gift shop and modern public conveniences.

Notes	Open Tuesday and Wednesday all year round except public holidays, 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm. Priory Park closes at dusk during the winter months. IMPORTANT NOTICE Please note that Prittlewell Priory is currently closed whilst preparation for the development and refurbishment of the building are undertaken. While refurbishment of the priory is in progress, the war memorial has been covered with a protective wooden cover. Unfortunately, this means the memorial will not be able to be viewed during 2011.
