Lovejoy country

The 23rd Lovejoy novel by Jonathan Gash is called 'Faces in the Pool' and has just been published. To celebrate the antiques dealer and his links with Essex the BBC has put together a selection of pictures of locations used in the BBC TV Drama Series.

The TV programme ran between 1986 and 1994 on BBC 1 and is still repeated around the world. Locations from across East Anglia were used and many famous places in Essex. Belchamp Walter and Coggeshall featured extensively and you can see some archive pictures of the cast and crew filming the series in the BBC photo gallery.

Pubs in Finchingfield and Belchamp St Paul featured in the programme offer execllent food and drink to the public. Belchamp Hall in Belchamp Walter featured regularly in the series as the location for Lady Jane Felcham's home and is a Queen Anne period family home. It is available for private hire.

There are many other antique centres and shops in Essex where you can bag a bargain! Battlesbridge Antique Centre near Chelmsford is the largest one with over 70 antique dealers buy and sell antiques and collectables of all descriptions.

The BBC photo gallery features only a small selection of locations used in the TV series and gives you an introduction to a rural part of the world sometimes known as 'Lovejoy country'...
