350 miles, an Essex journey

In the early months of 2005, photographer Jason Orton and writer Ken Worpole walked, cycled and occassionally drove, separately or together, much of the 350 miles of the Essex coastline, taking in the atmosphere, the landscape, and observing the abiding relationship of the land and the sea.
Their journey took them from the Thames, the Crouch, the Blackwater, the Colne estuaries to the North Essex coast. The result was a book, 350 miles - an Essex journey; two wonderful linked essays, one in photographs, the other in words - capturing the epic beauty of the coastal paths, seascapes, skies, fields and fortifications, which make the Essex coastal landscape so unique.
