Essex Houses and Gardens

Go the the Essex Houses and Gardens website. Opens in new window.

The county of Essex is full of beautiful surprises. One of the delights of travel around the county is finding special places. Essex Houses & Gardens comprises eleven glorious historic buildings and/or gardens who, as a group, work together to promote what we feel are some of the very best places around! Each has its own distinctive character and atmosphere. Some are privately owned, some run by charities, one by Essex County Council and one by English Heritage. They are each independently run from the other but are within easy distance to each other.  All can offer refreshments.

Special events are arranged from time to time and more details of when and what is happening can be found on their individual entries on this website. Groups are always welcome, so if you organise group trips then do contact the various attractions as they will help you plan a special day out!
