Cressing Temple Barns

Cressing Temple Barns

Cressing Temple Barns,
Witham Road,
Nr. Witham,
CM77 8PD

Please note that for the safety of our visitors, we will not be open to the public on the following dates:
• Thursday 14th & Friday 15th September ...
• Monday 18th September
• October 13th & October 16th
This is due to large structures being erected/dismantled across the site and alot of vehicle movement during event set-ups.
This does not affect the tearoom, which will remain open to the public.
All bookings for room hires will still go ahead and will be carefully supervised.

We would love to see you at Cressing and there is still lots for you to enjoy, not forgetting of course the very tempting Tiptree Tea Room.

Cressing Temple, between Witham and Braintree, is of supreme interest for its unique buildings and gardens. Given to the Knights Templar in 1137, its Grade I-listed Barley and Wheat Barns, built in the 13th century, are among the oldest timber barns and few surviving Templar buildings in England. Displays inside outline the history of the Templars and the site.

Among Cressing Temple's many gardens, the Walled Garden is faithfully reconstructed as a Tudor pleasure garden - one of few in the country. Cream teas at 'The Barns' Tea Room and picnics in Cressing Temple's gardens are popular. Cressing Temple can also offer a full wedding package.
