Home away from home accommodation, the Lodge is an ideal base for visiting all that the region has to offer. Make the most of historic Lavenham, Constable Country, Cambridge, Newmarket, Colchester, spas, steam railway, water skiing, antique shops, historic properties, winding lines - all within easy reach.

Come and explore the Essex countryside! Set on the edge of the quintessentially English village, the two friendly pubs, a restaurant and tea rooms are all just 2 minutes' walk away, from birthdays or reunions to activity holidays, whether you are friends, families, cyclists, walkers, bird watchers, historians, artists or colleagues it is a perfect country escape.

There is a large terrace and garden with outside furniture and a BBQ. It is surrounded by its own large garden which merges seamlessly with the ancient defensive landscape of the Norman castle earthworks, woodlands and farmland of the stunning castle park, which boasts an established network of footpaths and biking trails and is a five minute walk to the Castle.

The Lodge is available as a whole property for weekend breaks, mid week and weeklong bookings. Pets are not welcome unless by prior arrangement. Occasionally there are events at the castle which you are most welcome to enjoy as part of your stay.

It sleeps 17, in 8 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms - 2 ensuite, and booked together with The garden Cottage, 4, and The Game Larder, 2, and the Georgian House itself , 6 ( POA), you can create a very special weekend.

Road Directions

Only 1.5 hours from central London, 45 mins from Cambrige and Colchester Hedingham Castle is easy to get to.  It is signed on all major routes within 5 miles.

Public Transport Directions

There is a limited bus route but the Castle is easy to get to by train to either Braintree or Sudbury and take the bus or a taxi from there.
