Details
From April to October we run taught sessions covering KS2 science topics: friction, electricity, light, sound and structures and materials, as well as KS2 and KS1 river trails, and KS1 'Feeling Forces'. Sessions last for two hours and are from 10-12 and 13.00-15.00.
Our large spaces allow us to use parts of the industrial collection and purpose-built equipment to bring these physical sciences vividly to life in ways children cannot experience in school. Children respond with enthusiasm to the mixture of hands-on discovery and questioning and exploration of ideas they experience here. Teachers often make new discoveries about the abilities of their pupils as they take part in our sessions, and always comment on how much the children learn learn here. The many letters we receive confirm how much the children enjoy their visit, and often they return with their families on our public open days.
See our website for more details about the sessions.
