The museum itself is located in the former Mark Hall stables, linked with the Mark Hall Manor House- visited on three occasions by Queen Elizabeth 1 and her retinue.
It is surrounded by the beautiful Walled Gardens which were originally the kitchen gardens for the great house and the famous families which lived there.

From M11 (J7) and M25 (J27, six miles south) take A414 towards Harlow.
Turn left at third roundabout onto First Avenue.
Take the 2nd right off First Avenue into Muskham Road.
Car parking is at the rear of the Museum (disabled parking available at the front entrance).
From A10, take A414 towards Harlow.
From the River Stort bridge entrance, you arrive at the Station roundabout.
Take 3rd exit and turn left at next roundabout onto First Avenue.
Muskham Road is the last turning on the left before the A414.
