Over 500 acres of beautifully maintained parkland just outside Chelmsford. Park includes lawns, ornamental ponds, woodland paths, rhododendron bushes, Pleasure Gardens and the One World Garden, adjacent to Hylands House.

Make time to visit the Grade II listed Stables Visitor Centre, including café, facilities, gift shop and artist studios.

Please Note: The Adventure Castle Play Area will be closed from Monday 20th April - Friday 24th April for essential maintenance.

Opening details

Stable Visitor Centre & Park: Open everyday from 7.30am, the park gates are locked at the following times: Jan 5pm, Feb 6pm, Mar 6pm, Apr 8pm, May 9pm, Jun 10pm, July 10pm, Aug 9pm, Sep 8pm, Oct 7pm, Nov 5pm, Dec 5pm. Guided Tours, Talks and Walks are available by arrangement.

By Road:
From London: Take A12 towards Colchester. At 1st Chelmsford sign, take slip road to A414 towards Chelmsford. (A414 is an old dual carriageway). White on brown tourist signs indicates entrance to park/house.
