New Hall Vineyards
New Hall Vineyard is a family run English Wine Producer with over 100 acres of vines. It was first established by the Greenwood family in the small village of Purleigh in 1969 and is one of the oldest and largest English Vineyards in the country.
Over the years this site has proven itself to be an almost ideal place for growing vines in England and is producing above average crops of high quality grapes with naturally high sugars each year.
Over the years New Hall Vineyard has won many awards, not only for their own wines but also for other grape producers whom we make the wine for. This year alone Piers Greenwood won Winemaker of the year 2015 at the United Kingdom Vineyard Association (UKVA) Awards and also The Wine Guild Trophy with our New Hall Pinot Noir Rose 2013. In total, New Hall Vineyard and wines made on behalf of surrounding vineyards won The Waitrose Trophy 2015, 2 Gold Awards, 17 Silver Awards and 12 Bronze awards this year alone at the UKVA and EAVA Awards. A few other awards include:
Bacchus 2015 - Silver Medal Winner at the 2015 International Sommelier Awards
Pinot Noir Rose 2014 - Winner of the 2015 UKVA McAlpine Trophy
New Hall Vineyard holds many events throughout the year, the main one this year being their 45th Anniversary Wine Festival and Fun Day on the 3rd & 4th September 2016.
This year’s event is set to be a super day out for all of the family including lots of new craft stalls including Glass Making and Straw Weaving with regular demonstrations. We are proud to have new acts from the likes of Adrian Gray the famous Stonebalancer, Thameside Mummers, Stilt Walkers, performances from Dance 21 along with lots of other craft stalls and refreshments including local food producers such as Maldon Oysters and Simon the Pie Man. Wine tasting is included in ticket price with the opportunity to purchase our award winning wine on the day and lots more attractions for all ages. This is set to be a fantastic day out with all of the family with something for everyone.
Our cellar shop is open to the public Monday - Saturday where you can taste and buy your favourite wine and we can also offer personalised labels for those that would like them (preordered or subject to availability at the time of purchase)
We have recently renovated two of the buildings and can also offer meeting/conference rooms or private function areas for hire.
At New Hall Vineyard we also run tours and tasting sessions throughout the year for groups of 15+ which include a guided tour of the vineyard followed by a tasting session with our expert and the opportunity to buy the wine at the end.
For those wine enthusiasts we have our ‘Own Your Own Vineyard’ leasing scheme where you can rent a row of vines and receive the wine made from your row at the end of the season.
