Details

16th C. manor house built by Sir William Petre, Secretary of State to four Tudor monarchs, and still occupied by his descendants. The house substantially retains its original form and appearance (including two priests hiding places) and contains furniture, pictures and memorabilia accumulated over the centuries. Guided tours of the house and grounds for pre-booked groups at any time of the year (subject to other diary commitments). The tour takes 1.5 to 2 hours - and by prior arrangement, refreshments or light meals are available. Cost (excluding refreshments) up to 20 people £80.00, 21-40 people £150.00 and 41-60 people £210.00.

By Road:
A12 to Ingatestone village. From the London end of the High Street, take Station Lane. Go over the level crossing and continue for 0.5 mile. Designated parking is about 200 yards from the house.

By Public Transport:
From Ingatestone station it is 0.75 miles to Ingatestone Hall.

  • It is a Tudor House with the limitations that that imposes. The House is some 200m from the main entrance and car park. By arrangement cars can come up the drive to drop off passengers. Within the house there are many changes in level and ill lit and poor contrasting areas.
