Friday 28 September - The Mercury Voices Project
Mercury Voices is a 2 year HLF funded project bringing together the archive of Colchester’s Mercury Theatre. This talk will bring you the history of the theatre as told through its programmes and plans and recalled by people working and visiting.

Friday 5 October - Sic Est Faciendum (That's the way to do it)
Addrian Hutson will be giving a brief account of the History of Mr Punch and a few amusing reminiscences.

Friday 12 October - Clacton Theatres and Memories
This illustrated presentation by Roger Kennell tells the story of some of the Clacton Theatres during the hey-day of the town as a major holiday resort. Some of the memories of the speaker attending these theatres during the 1950s and early 1960s will feature in this memory jerking presentation.

Friday 19 October - Changing Times - Clacton's Band Pavilion
This illustrated talk charts the history of Clacton's Band Pavilion from open space and bandstand to 3,000 seat theatre hosting the world's top big bands to amusement arcade and today's Children's Fun Park, Bowling Alley and Restaurant. Norman Jacobs gives the story of the Bandstand and Pavilion which mirrors Clacton's own rise, fall and rise again and celebrates its recent revival as part of the town's regeneration.

Friday 26 October - Suffragettes on Stage
Professor Katharine Cockin from the University of Essex, author of Edith Craig and the Theatres of Art, will be exploring the use of drama and performance, including street pageantry and newspaper-selling, in the women's suffrage movement, focusing on the leading director of women's suffrage drama - Edith Craig.

Access: Jaywick Martello Tower has a wheelchair lift to the 1st floor, unfortunately not the roof due to the nature of the building.

Trains: Every hour from London Liverpool Street station to Clacton-on-Sea, check with National Railways before travelling.

Buses: Bus 10-11 from outside Clacton Station on left side of park. Bus stand does not show 10/11 but it is there. Get off at end of route, average time 20 minutes.

Parking: free

Accessible by Public Transport: 4 miles from Clacton-on-Sea station
