Details

British artist Noel Dyrenforth has specialised in the batik medium since the 1960’s after studying art in London. He chose to explore the ancient resist dye technique as his creative discipline and pioneered it in many countries making his unique works of art unparalleled in this media. In this exhibition he presents over five decades of works and some ceramics for the first time in the county of Essex. His sensual, tactile pieces demonstrate his exploration of methods and a passionate interpretation of a reoccurring theme that is addressing a society where freedom is increasingly undermined. He has written three books on the subject of batik and lectured internationally with an emphasis on workshops and blending craft skills with creative intuition and integrity. His highly acclaimed work is held in numerous collections and recently the Victoria and Albert Museum acquired a further six works to add to their collection. Harlow Art Trust are proud to be able to show larger pieces of his unique works of art, an opportunity to get an intimate view of this rare medium.
