Located in the Borough of Colchester, Rowhedge is a village approximately three miles to the south east of Britain's first city. The village is on the banks of the River Colne and has a number of facilities including two public houses, The Anchor and Ye Old Albion, a village hall, The Church of Saint Lawrence and Rowhedge Woods Nature Reserve. 

The history of the village is directly related to the River Colne as boat building within the village goes back to the 19th century.
