The Discovery Festival Library Takeover provides the opportunity to discovery some of the fantastic services, support and activities available within Chelmsford for those living with disability and their families. It’s also a chance to hear some inspirational stories of those living with disability. Information Stands include:

Ace Music Therapy – Providing music therapy to clients of all ages and abilities, facilitating positive change in emotional wellbeing and communication through live musical interactions.

Charms Therapy Centre – The Essex Therapy Centre provides Health & Welfare Advice & Advocacy, Hyperbaric & Normobaric Oxygen Therapy, Counselling & Psychological Interventions, Massage & Exercise Equipment.

Essex County Cricket Club – Essex Cricket in the Community exists to lead, inspire and influence the growth, accessibility and quality of Cricket in Essex and the East London Boroughs.

Hearing Help Essex – Supporting people living with hearing loss by providing a variety information, advice, guidance, and practical services across the County. Their information stand will also use simulation equipment for you to experience what hearing loss can sound like.

Limbless Association – Their mission is to see amputees of all ages achieve rehabilitation and independence in hospital, home, education, employment and within the community.

Meadows Shop Mobility – Charity providing mobility scooters, powered and manual wheelchairs and rollators to anyone of any age with a permanent or temporary mobility problem.

Papworth Trust Essex – Leading charity that has supported Disabled people for over 100 years Community Connections Essex is part of the Building Better Opportunities project, supporting people with a disability or long term health condition.

Support 4 Sight – Organisation that provides assistance to blind and partially sighted people in Essex. Their stand will provide an opportunity to try some fun and challenging tasks for people to try while wearing sim specs.

We are Purple - An organisation with the mission to transform thinking and change the conversation to support businesses and disabled people, creating sustainable solutions for the benefit of society.

Interactive talks and sessions:

Monday 3 December
• Creative Moods
From 10am to 12pm, there is an inclusive drop in art group for all to enjoy
• Other Halves Craft Group
From 10am to 12pm, there is a craft group with carefully thought out creative activities for those living with dementia and their carers
• Dementia Friends Session
At 2pm & 4pm, there are sessions to find out a little more about dementia, how it impacts upon people and how to help people living with dementia.

Tuesday 4 December
• All Ears: A Journey with Hearing Loss
From 10:30am to 11:30am, Sophie Biebuyck from Hearing Help Essex will be giving a talk about her journey with hearing loss
• Ace Music Therapy session for children
From 11:30am to 12:30pm, there will be a session to experience what it's like to be part of a music therapy group
• Ace Music Therapy session for adults
From 3pm to 4pm, there will be a session to experience what it's like to be part of a music therapy group
