Established by artists in 1968, SPACE is a leading visual arts organization providing creative workspace, advocacy, support and promoting innovation.

Located at Colchester’s Old Police Station and part of the cultural St Botolph’s quarter, 37 Queen street is SPACE’s first site outside of London - a creative hub, providing studios, co-working desk space and networking facilities.
The building holds 38 studio spaces for creative talents in and around Colchester with its use divided between artists, makers and creative businesses.
The practices in the building include painters, sculptors, photographers, fashion designers, illustrators, cartoonists film and video makers, graphic designers, silver smiths and many more.
This Summer 37 Queen Street will be hosting its first open studio events, allowing the public to explore and the building and see the artists working within their studios.
As well as these we will have a trail of artwork throughout the public spaces of the building.
The first of our open studios will take place on Sunday the 2nd of July, which will concede with Colchester’s “Big Sunday” for which we will be hosting live music in our courtyard space.
The Second open studios will be on Saturday the 16th of September.
