Rescued from ruin and steeped in history, Hylands House on the outskirts of Chelmsford in Essex is the most beautiful example of a Grade II listed building. It is set in 574 acres of undulating landscaped parkland with the formal Pleasure Gardens, One World Gardens and Stables Visitor Centre acting as a magnificent outdoor centre for the estate. A range of guided tours of the estate, its gardens and house are available for groups.

OPENING TIMES: April to September, Sunday and Monday 1000-1700. October to March, Sunday 1000-1600. Guided tours can be accomodated from Monday to Friday throughout the year.
SUGGESTED LENGTH OF VISIT: 3 hours.

From London: Take A12 towards Colchester. At 1st Chelmsford sign, take slip road to A414 towards Chelmsford. (A414 is an old dual carriageway). White on brown tourist signs indicates entrance to park/house.
