"It was a breath taking experience. I was unconfident with low self esteem, now my confidence is higher than Mount Everest. I feel better than I have in a long while." Vulnerable young person, on our project to develop personal and life skills
Lambourne End Centre for Outdoor Learning is a fantastic '54 acre classroom' situated in West Essex, providing high-quality personal development experiences to young people of all ability across Essex, East London and further a field. Using our distinctive blend of adventure, farm and environmental activities, we offer innovative and stimulating tailored programmes of activity focusing on personal development, where young people can have fun discovering and learning, building friendships and exchanging views. We provide the opportunity for people to develop and stretch themselves in a friendly and informal environment in which they can feel truly valued. We build confidence, raise self-esteem and generate a sense of achievement, develop team work and improve communication skills, inspiring people to fulfil their potential and providing an opportunity for young people to look at the way they view themselves and the world in which they live in a safe, welcoming and interesting outdoor environment.
Our activities include climbing, caving, low ropes course over water, kayaking, mountain biking, fencing, wheelchair abseiling, swimming, farm visits, pond dipping, horticulture, bugs and beasties hunting, orienteering and many more, including residential accommodation to sleep 42 people.
We also work with corporate groups and offer a range of exciting volunteering opportunities as well as birthday parties.
Prices
The Centre takes bookings from established groups (schools, Prince's Trust teams, church/youth groups, and many more) and the cost of the programme depends on how many people visit, which activities you are doing, how long you are staying for, whether you need any rooms or whether you are a residential group. We do an Early Bird discount for bookings taken 8 weeks in advance of a visit.
The Centre is open to the public at our Open Days, the next one is Sunday 22nd April 2012. Please visit our website to keep up-to-date with events, www.lambourne-end.org.uk.
