Walks and rides around Brentwood

Brentwood, a medieval town, was developed when Thomas à Becket was canonised in 1173. Pilgrims on the way to his tomb stopped at Brentwood to rest in the specially-built chapel. In the 12th century a chapel was built for the growing population and the remains can still be seen in the town centre. Brentwood has continued to thrive and welcome people ever since, with a current population of 71000, and with many families enjoying the perfect balance of rural and urban living.
