Evening Talks Ticket

Join us for a drinks reception and an evening of exciting and informative talks from leading conservation experts. Colchester Zoo’s, Zoological Director, Anthony Tropeano will guide you through the vital work that Action for the Wild supports including the UmPhafa reserve , introducing you to the many projects that the charity supports and the conservation work that takes place at Colchester Zoo.

We will then hear from Save the Rhino International’s Director, Cathy Dean. Having recently returned from the field, she will give us an insider’s perspective of their ground breaking in situ conservation efforts to save these majestic creatures.

John Lewis MA, VetMB, PhD, MRCVS of Wildlife Vets International and Colchester Zoo’s, Veterinarian, will, also, give an insightful account of the international team he works with to support in situ and ex situ conservation efforts to save the Amur leopard. John will be just weeks away from his latest research trip to the Russian Far East where he aims to track, gain full health assessments and radio collar the elusive Amur leopard. With an estimated 30-35 Amur leopards left in the wild, such a trip takes months of planning from numerous experts. John will take us on a journey through past successful expeditions, with some of his own private awe- inspiring photographs taken of this incredibly beautiful cat in its stunning homeland.

The evening will culminate in an auction to help raise funds for Action for the Wild. You will have the opportunity to bid for some truly amazing, prizes including the chance to help train an Amur leopard and an Amur tiger as well as spending a day with zoo vet, John Lewis behind the scenes treating the species at Colchester Zoo!
