Our restaurant was established by my brother and myself in 1987 following the vision of our father who had a passion for cooking. The main cuisine is Indian/ Bangladeshi. Being from Bangladesh we have great expertise in traditional home-made food and regularly promote Bangladesh nights bringing the authentic foods to our customers.
We serve dishes made to customer's specific requirements, including anything from mild chicken Korma to hot and spicy chicken Naga. Our most popular dishes are Tandoori chicken Bhuna Balti and King Prawn Bhazi. We only use the finest king prawns from Bangladesh which are noted for their freshness and size. Many of our ingredients are sourced locally, although some specialist ingredients come from our suppliers in East London.
My brother's passion for cooking is reflected in his imagination for creating new dishes. He is a real hit with the customers when making rare appearances in the restaurant talking about new recipes and adding his humorous style to keep them entertained.
The restaurant has recently undergone some modernisation and refurbishment but still keeping the authentic Indian/Bangladeshi atmosphere. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and all our customers are always made to feel very much at home. This is demonstrated by the considerable number of loyal customers who come back on a regular basis. However, the biggest achievement of our high standard and quality is the recognition of our restaurant in the 2010 Essex Food and Drink Awards where we received the highly commended best small restaurant award.
The restaurant is in a prime location in Maldon on the High Street near the very popular Promenade Park and Hythe Quay, where you can view some spectacular scenery including the Blackwater Estuary and the old Thames Sailing Barges moored at the quay.
We have many customers as friends at Maldon Tandoori and hope to make many more. We hope to see you soon.
