Maeldune Heritage Centre with giant viking

About

We are proud to be home to The Maldon Embroidery, a 42ft long masterpiece. The seven embroidery panels were worked on by 86 local embroideries and took three years to complete, the embroidery celebrates the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Maldon in 991, fought between the Saxons and the Vikings. Talks and information on the Maldon Embroidery will be available to visitors throughout the Heritage Open Days.

Maldon Society's extensive collection of photographic and video archives will be showing on a continuous display, along with displays from Maldon Museum and the Burnham-on-Crouch Museum. The Art Gallery will be showing an exhibition of local work called Creativity Unwrapped.

On Saturday 8 September at 13:30, the Salt Water Beer Shanty Singers will be performing traditional songs.

The gift shop and the Maldon Visitor Information Centre is open as normal.
