Epping Ongar Railway

About

Epping Ongar Railway is Essex's LONGEST heritage railway and the CLOSEST TO LONDON, running steam and diesel trains between Ongar and North Weald villages and into Epping Forest. We also operate heritage bus services which make the short journey through the picturesque market town of Epping's London Underground Station.

We aim to educate, enjoy and preserve the history and community of the Epping Ongar Railway and have events that are great for families and enthusiasts alike.  We run a fleet of former mainline steam and diesel locomotives which haul a range of period coaches between our beautifully restored period stations and into the magical Epping Forest.  
Our buses and trains link together a number of different interesting destinations - offering a complete day out to suit all ages and interests, which alongside themed events offer something for all the family.  We also run our restaurant on rails selling street food, cream teas and soft and alcoholic drinks.  There are cafes at both our stations and a well stocked shop selling souvenirs, toys and heritage memorabilia

Our railway is mostly run by a team of dedicated, enthusiastic and skillful volunteers who will make sure that every minute of your visit is great fun and gives really great value for money for a full day out.  Oh, there's also a playgrond and dogs are very welcome - all aboard!
