The Naze Tower is an historic 86ft landmark dramatically situated on the cliffs at the Naze. Built by Trinity House in 1720 this octagonal navigation tower has played an important role in maritime history and is grade II* listed, as the only building of its type and era in the country. Today it offers visitors a unique experience of heritage and culture that is fun for all ages.
Over eight floors reached by a spiral staircase of 111 stairs the Naze Tower now houses an art gallery with diverse exhibitions of work by East Anglian artists, a museum on the Tower and the Naze, a tea rooms serving refreshments and lunch with seating inside and outside the Tower and the crowning glory, an open top roof viewing platform with breathtaking views of the land and seascape of Essex and Suffolk. "The view from the top is the finest in Essex", Nicholas Crane in Countryfile magazine (Writer and presenter of the BBC Coast series.)
The Tower is located at the Naze an attractive natural coastal location popular with the public for leisure pursuits. There is lots to explore - beach, cliff and seawall walks, a nature reserve and two SSSI's (Site of Special Scientific Interest) - the fossil rich Naze Cliffs and the saltmarsh habitat of Hamford Waters.
