A stunning Grade I listed Priory and the oldest continuously occupied building in Southend. Prittlewell Priory has been a monastery, a private house, and a museum. What you see today is but a fraction of what was here in the middle ages, when much of what is now Priory Park was occupied by buildings, farmland, orchards and gardens.
Follow in the footsteps of the 13th century Cluniac monks through to the Scrattons, a Victorian family who were the last to live in this wonderful home. With some incredible examples of natural history on display, we are now also home to some wonderful protected wildlife!
There is so much to do and see on your visit, both inside the Priory and around the beautiful walled gardens and park. You can then finish your visit with some simple refreshments in our visitor centre and gift shop.
Please note we do not allow buggies, bikes or scooters in the Priory.
