About

Southend Pier is the town's historical icon as well as being the longest pleasure pier in the world. It stretches for 1.33 miles, putting Southend on the map as well as into the record books.

If you don't fancy walking the length of the pier take a ride on the 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs for 1.25 miles (2.01 km) along the length of Southend Pier. Pier trains leave the shore end of the Pier on the hour and half hour from opening until 1 hour before closing. The trains leave the Pier Head at a quarter to and a quarter past the hour until 15mins before closing. This is a half hourly service.

Special trips on the Pier train take place throughout the year such as Ghost Trains and Santa on the Pier. For the latest information on this visitor offer please browse our 'What's On' event page.

There's plenty to do for the whole family on Southend Pier....

Fancy a round of crazy golf at the end of the world's longest pleasure pier? Then make your way to Southend Pier Crazy Golf where you can take on Olga the Octopus on this fantastic 18 hole course 1.33 miles from shore.

On Southend Pier you can fish from either the Pier Stem or Pier Head and catch a variety of species including mackerel, plaice or flounder.Day fishing from the Pier is available to anyone, and tickets can be purchased on the day. Simply bring along your rod and bait and enjoy the views from the end of the Pier!

If you have worked up an appetite there are a number of Food Outlets on Southend Pier for all to enjoy....from hot food, tea and cake, ice cream to fish & chips. There's something for everyone.
