About

East Hanningfield is a small village surrounded by West Hanningfield, South Woodham Ferrers, Howe Green and Rettendon, only a short drive to the city of Chelmsford.

There are two lovely restaurants which are very popular with the locals, one serving classic Italian cuisine and the other a bistro pub style. RHS Hyde Hall is very close to the village if you fancied a walk around these beautiful Essex gardens.

Nearby, you will also find Hanningfield Reservoir with its discovery centre, waterside park, café, fishing lake and scenic walks, including the popular Wind in the Willows trail.

Interestingly, ‘Hanningfield’ was in the Domesday book of 1086. East Hanningfield is also home of All Saints Church, a post office and a new village hall.
