On Thursday 2 June, the Mayor of Colchester starts the Jubilee weekend with a civic day of celebration.

11.30am - Royal Gun Salute in Upper Caste Park

1pm - 4pm - Community Picnic in the Park including bandstand concerts, activities and entertainment. Bring your own picnic.

1.30pm - Unveiling of Castle Park planting and willow sculptures

2pm - Town crier reading the proclamation

9pm - The Town Hall, Castle, Jumbo and Mercury will be lit up to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee

9.30pm - Civic procession to the Castle

9.35pm - Piper playing 'Diu Regnare'

9.40pm - Bugler plays 'Majesty'

9.43pm - Speech from the Mayor

9.45pm - Castle Park Beacon lighting accomanied by a choir singing 'Song for the Commonwealth' 'A life lived with Grace'
