Great Yeldham is village in the north east of Essex close to the Suffolk border. At its centre is a small triangular green where you can find the 'Great Oak' which was first recorded in the Doomsday Book in 1086.

Great Yeldham is surrounded by the towns of Sudbury in Suffolk and Halstead in Essex. It is also close to the villages of Little Yeldham, Toppesfield, Stambourne, Ridgewell, Sible Hedingham and Castle Hedingham.

The village has a Post Office, several small shops and stores, a primary school, two hotels, a village hall, St. Andrew's Church and a pub. There are also cricket and football clubs within the village.
