As part of the Roman River June Mini Festival, we are delighted to be bringing Joseph Toonga and his dance company Just Us Dance Theatre to Colchester on Saturday 26 June where they will be performing Born to Protest, highlighting the identity struggles the black male experiences.
Through their Hip-Hop dance performance, Toonga and his group are challenging racial stereotypes about the black male figure being intimidating. The dance expresses universal human traits of fragility and vulnerability, and the constant struggle black males experience in proving their humanity.
Don’t miss this exciting free performance of Born to Protest in Castle Park on Saturday 26th June 2021 at 1pm. The location of the performance will be signposted. This event is free but please confirm your attendance through the Roman River website
