About

Each month, we will explore a different seasonal topic, designed especially for home-educated children aged 6–12 (Key Stage 2).

Across the year, children will have the chance to explore a range of habitats, with a variety of sessions planned for 2026 – so keep an eye out for upcoming dates!

Hornchurch Country Park has a fascinating past. Originally farmland, it later became an airfield and played an important role before, during, and after both World War One and World War Two.

In this Home Education session, we will use a compass and direction-finding skills to explore the park and uncover its history. Children will investigate pillboxes, the Spitfire parking area, and other historical features that can still be seen today.

This session is best suited to children aged 6–12 (Key Stage 2). Children remain the responsibility of their accompanying adult and must be supervised at all times.
