About

Henry VIII made a visit to Layer Marney Tower in August 1522 and we have a big celebration to commemorate such an important event. The stage and actors are set in the Tudor period. Follow the King as he enjoys watching the birds of prey demonstration, the maypole dancing, archery and music. Talk to his scrivener, the craftsmen and embroiderer. Can the cunning woman cure his ailments? Come and join in the fun and welcome the King to Essex. The Tower, Church and tearoom will be open serving a selection of light lunches, locally made cakes, and hot & cold drinks.
