Set in Victorian England, aspiring author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) falls for the dashing and mysterious Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston). Once married, they move into his family's ancient and crumbling estate, where Edith, plagued by ghostly visions, uncovers the house's dark past and her husband's hidden secrets.
