About

Five different gardens all within walking distance in the historical town of Harwich. 8 St Helens Green, just 100m from the sea. A small town garden, with an abundance of dahlias, and hydrangeas mixed with perennials. 63 Church Street (access via Cow Lane/Kings Head Street) is a long, narrow walled courtyard with shrubs, climbers, perennials and veg packed into the garden and architectural features including an Elizabethan window with original glass. Brought back to life the garden at 63 West Street was started in 2016 from a mess of rubble to a beautiful garden. Containing shrubs, perennials and annuals, the owner has brought plants from previous gardens to help stock this garden. Many scented plants. Pots also feature highly. Lovely at this moment in time, it is ever evolving. Views of historic buildings Quayside Court unusually boasts a sunken garden hidden from view at the end of the car park which features a pond, veg patch, roses and climbers. 30 Kings Head Street this garden is at the back of what was the Ebenezer Chapel built by the Methodists in 1820 and more recently used as a chandlery but converted into a house in 2017. The garden was started in 2018, made from a concrete car park and is a work in progress. Already it boasts shrubs, perennials and some veg. It is a patch of peace in historic Harwich. In addition to the garden an art exhibition will be taking place in the chapel.
