About
2025 marks 80 years since the Second World War came to an end. To celebrate the one-year anniversary, on 8 June 1946, Epping and District held a VE Day Carnival, Fete, and Gala. To start off the day, a procession went from the Plain, along Epping High Street to Bury Lane.
In the Epping Cricket Ground, the event was officially opened with a Thanksgiving Ceremony. Various events were on offer including a Dog Show, Comic Cricket Match and a Punch and Judy Show. It must have been a joyous event for children and adults alike, still scarred by war.
We're bringing this important moment to life with Punch and Judy at the Museum on Saturday, 20 September. Individuals can book a show time (noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm) an accompanying drop-in art and craft activity by booking online-https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/efdmuseum, calling the museum at 01992 716882 or emailing at enquiries@efdmuseum.org.uk.
