Purleigh War Memorial

About

The Remembrance Day service in Purleigh will begin in the church at 9.45, followed by the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial.

The war memorial at Purleigh stands in the graveyard extension opposite the Grade I Listed All Saints Church and takes the form of a 10ft granite obelisk on a three-stepped base, built by Wray & Fuller of Chelmsford. It commemorates the lives of 25 local people who died in conflicts - 15 in World War I, nine in World War II and one name from the Korean War.

More information on those who died can be found at Roll of Honour - Essex - Purleigh (roll-of-honour.com) and in a booklet produced by the Parish Council.
