About
A screening of alternative Christmas comedy 'Scrooged' (1988), part of our 'Cult Classics' series at the Beecroft Cinema Club.
"That's the one good thing about regret: it's never too late. You can always change tomorrow if you want to."
Beecroft Cinema Club presents 'Cult Classics' series, screening the iconic films that fans are frenzied for on the last Thursday of each month on the big screen at the Beecroft Art Gallery. However, as the last Thursday of this December is Christmas Day, this month's screening will be held two weeks earlier on the 11th.
In December, we're offering an edgier alternative to your average festive flick! A modern retelling of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, 'Scrooged' follows Bill Murray as Frank Cross, a selfish and miserly television executive who is visited by a succession of spirits on Christmas Eve to help him find his Christmas spirit. Packed with celebrity cameos and a darker tone than most Christmas comedies, Murray carries the film with his characteristic dry, cynical humour.
Doors open and refreshments will be available from 6pm and the film will start promptly at 6:30pm (there are no adverts). There is no allocated seating.
