Remember the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Duke Ellington? Well, the Sid Bolan Big Band recreates the sounds of those and other great swing bands, all in the wonderful acoustics of historic 1,000-year-old St Leonard's Church. SBBB singers perform songs from the songbooks of such great singers as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald to name but a few.
The spread of music the band plays is wide and varied. From traditional Big Band music to ballroom, latin and other modern dance music. The band also includes a selection of more modern music so to cater for all occasions. Big Band Music is still very active across the world and we are lucky that composers, arrangers and big stars are still actively involved in this genre of music. Artists such as Michael Buble, Gordon Goodwin, Robbie Williams for example perform this music opening it to younger generations to enjoy.
The normal line up of the band consists of 5 Saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, bass, guitar, drums and two fantastic vocalists.
