About

A First‑Ever United Trail Brings Art and Heritage Together on Mersea Island
Mersea Island will host something truly unprecedented this May as 'The Mersea Art Collective,Mersea Museum and 'Essex Heritage Workboats Mersea Hub' join forces for the first time to create a single, united celebration. From 23–25 May, islanders and visitors will be invited to explore a trail that blends art, creativity, history, and community spirit in a way the island has never seen before.
This landmark collaboration will offer a seamless experience that honours both the island's artistic energy and its deep maritime heritage. The result is a Mersea Art Collective Trail that will be bigger, richer, and more connected than ever. This first‑ever united trail embodies the theme "Weaving History & Art Together." It is a celebration not only of what Mersea has been, but of what it continues to become when its islanders collaborate with imagination and pride. Taking you from the Museum to the amazing studios of the Collectives we are taking you on a journey into the days gone by along this iconic maritime road, which is still very busy with the workings of the fishing, oyster and boatyard industries that have formed the very nature of the area and its people.
