As a charity and non-profit organisation, Frinton Summer Theatre offers high-quality professional theatre at local prices for the communites in and visitors to Frinton-on-Sea and beyond.

Every year from mid-July, Frinton Summer Theatre runs a season of weekly changing plays, comedy and music events during July and August at the McGrigor Hall, and produces a breathtaking musical in a big top tent on Frinton Greensward.

In its 80-year history, Frinton Summer Theatre has been a career springboard for actors such as Vanessa Redgrave, Julian Fellowes, John Osbourne, Lynda Bellingham and Owen Teale.

By keeping the beautiful tradition of summer seaside ‘weekly rep’ alive, it not only remains an important seedbed for future talent in British Theatre, but also provides an attractive holiday destination for visitors to the beautiful Essex Sunshine Coast.

  • Disabled access - For each performance there are four accessible seats available. These seats can be pre-booked and will be released for general sale 48 hours before a show begins. Carers will be seated with you.

Exit A12 northbound onto A120 signposted Clacton-on-sea

Exit A120 at A133. At the Weeley roundabout take the first exit onto B1033. 

Continue along the B1033 towards Frinton-on-Sea.

Public Transport Directions

Trains run, approximately, every hour from London Liverpool Street to Frinton-on-Sea. 

The last evening train to return to London is 22:03pm. The station is a short walk from the McGrigor Hall. 

Please check with the rail service provider before you travel.
