About

The Mercury Theatre Colchester is a vital centre of excellence in the East’s growing creative economy. The Mercury exists to put theatre at the heart of the community it serves and to make work in Colchester that reaches audiences and generates critical attention regionally and nationally.

The Mercury Theatre is currently closed the public while their £9.8m redevelopment project, Mercury Rising, takes place. Mercury Rising is an exciting project that will modernise and transform the Mercury’s much-loved theatre, safeguarding its future for the whole community. We’ve already raised a fantastic £9.1 million thanks to support from Arts Council England, Colchester Borough Council, Essex County Council, the South East Local Enterprise Partnership, the European Regional Development Fund and support from the local community.
