Located in the Rochford district and approximately four miles from the town of Rochford, Canewdon is situated on one of the highest hills in Essex which is where St. Nicolas's Church is sited. Near Canewdon is Wallasea Island which is a popular sailing destination as well as being a wildlife wetland sactury.  

With a long history dating back to the Neolithic period 2,000 years ago, Canewdon is steeped in hertiage as well as legends of witchcraft and ghosts. Within the village is a primary school, community hall, the Anchor pub, a village store and a skatepark.
