Dig into the past this Easter! On 30 March from 10 AM to 4 PM, enjoy expert talks, fun fossil‑themed crafts and worksheets, and bring your own discoveries for identification. A brilliant and free hands‑on holiday activity for budding palaeontologists and curious young explorers.

This event is suitable for ages 5+.

No booking needed – just drop in! Free, but numbers are limited and queuing may be required.

To reach Colchester by road, exit the A12 at junction 27 and follow the signs to the city centre.

There are spaces for disabled badge holders by Castle Park in Museum Street, and places in the High Street.

Parking is available in the nearby Priory Street and Britannia car parks, which are just a few minutes from Colchester Castle, Hollytrees Museum and Natural History Museum. For more information, visit www.colchester.gov.uk/parking for all Colchester's car parks.

Public Transport Directions

Colchester is just 58 minutes on the main train line from London or Norwich. Arriving at Colchester North station, the museums are just a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride to the city centre.

Arriving at Colchester Town station the museums are a 10 minute walk, up Queens Street and St Botolphs Street.

The museums are a 10-minute walk from the main bus station on Osborne Street.
