Discover the bold imagery and storytelling of Norman art in this creative drop-in workshop at Colchester Castle. Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, participants will create their own illustrated fabric design using drawing materials and techniques inspired by Norman patterns, figures and narrative scenes. Led by arts practitioner Clare Sams, the activity focuses on illustration rather than sewing, making it suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities. Younger visitors can also enjoy Norman-themed colouring activities. Drop in between 10.30am and 12.30pm and take home a unique piece of Norman-inspired artwork, included with Castle admission.

Colchester North Station is approximately a 20-minute walk from Colchester Castle. Frequent bus services operate between the station and Colchester town centre, with stops close to Castle Park. From the High Street, follow signs through the park to the Castle entrance. Taxi services are also available from Colchester North Station.
