About

L'Isola Recital and Library Tours
Enjoy an atmospheric performance by early music ensemble L'Isola as their evocative sound fills Chelmsford Cathedral. During the recital, guests can join a guided tour of the hidden library above the South Porch, viewing rare manuscripts and historic prints. The Very Revd Dr Jessica Martin, Dean of Chelmsford and expert in 16th–17th century literature, will share insights on remarkable works including a richly illustrated 1530s 'Great Bible' and a stunning Polyglot Bible. Tour spaces are limited—book on arrival. Please note: library access is via a steep spiral staircase and may not be suitable for all visitors.
