About

Hosting everything from comedy and theatre to live music and large-scale touring productions and an annual pantomime, our main house is an essential cultural hub in the heart of Chelmsford. A short walk from Chelmsford train and bus station, our Main house seats 502 over two levels - stalls and balcony - and offers an intimate experience where you can fully immerse yourself in the performances. The public spaces boast two stylish bars and house our main box office.

Next door to the Main House, our intimate Studio Theatre space hosts new material and emerging artists as well as live screenings from all over the globe

But there's a jam packed programme of shows waiting for you for when we reopen

Chelmsford Theatre is in the heart of Chelmsford, and plays host to the best in comedy, drama, music, dance, cinema and more! Plus every November and December, our panto brings the magic of Christmas to Chelmsford. ssional touring theatre, music productions, dance and lunchtime concerts.  When reopened after the makeover of our front of house spaces the studio will also house our new open-all-day café with outdoor terrace seating.
