About

Great Lodge is a tranquil, rural estate in North Essex. Originally a medieval deer park, it was given to Anne of Cleves by Henry VIII when their marriage was annulled and the magnificent Grade 1 listed brick and tile barn dates from that period. Nestled behind the barn is Bardfield Vineyard which has been producing award winning wine for almost 30years.

Visitors can enjoy a tour of the vineyard and wine tasting either with a self-guided trail or for groups by appointment. Our wine can be purchased from our vineyard shop.

Also enjoy our beautiful walled gardens, herd of alpacas or venture further afield to explore our woodland and oxlip colony.

Our newly refurbished barn conversions provide stylish bed and breakfast or self-catering accommodation in 7 double or twin rooms.

Other events include pop-opera performances and our May Open day and celebration of English wine Week.
